About Us
The Alameda County Public Health Laboratory (PHL) provides testing services for the isolation and identification of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites) to aid in the prevention and control of communicable disease. Our laboratory serves as the reference laboratory for hospitals and clinicians in the county. The laboratory is staffed with highly trained and State-certified Public Health Microbiologists and support staff.
Essential Tests and Referral Services
The Alameda County PHL provides clinical and reference testing utilizing sophisticated, state-of-the-art technology. Laboratory services provided include testing for:
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Enteric Pathogens
- Tuberculosis
- Fungal Diseases
- Food and Water for contamination
- Rabies
- Lyme Disease
