About Us
The El Dorado County Public Health Laboratory (PHL) is dedicated to excellence in diagnostic testing, consultation, and assistance. The PHL provides specialized diagnostic testing for infectious diseases. In addition, the laboratory provides a range of environmental testing services to ensure safe water for drinking and recreation.
The laboratory maintains current certification with all regulatory agencies and participates in on-going performance evaluation and quality assurance programs.
Essential Tests and Referral Services
The El Dorado County PHL utilizes the most effective fluorescent antibody and RNA amplification techniques available for infectious disease testing. Testing provided includes:
- LRN Level A BT agent screening.
- RT PCR agents (B.pertussis, Norovirus, Influenza A/B)
- H1, 3, 5 sub-typing of Influenza A.
- Gastroenteritis
- STDs
- Water Testing for inorganic chemicals (includes Nitrates and Nitrites)
- Water Testing for drinking water quality (coliform/fecal coliform).
- Rabies (for El Dorado and Amador counties)
- Blood Lead testing for CHDP program
